Alaska Airlines economy seats: what to know

How to compare Alaska Airlines Economy locations, cabin versions and the seat-selection conditions attached to your trip.

Updated October 31, 2026

Saver controls when you receive a seat

Alaska’s Saver fare assigns seats at check-in. Its current help also describes paid upgrades that can permit selection in advance. Compare those choices when the position matters, rather than assuming that every Main Cabin ticket includes the same selection rights.

Compare the actual Alaska cabin

Use the aircraft variant and configuration in your flight details to identify the correct plan. Compare Economy locations separately from Alaska’s named seat products, checking their source annotations. A familiar seat number on a different 737 version is not a reliable substitute for the matching plan.

Check the party’s assignments

Alaska warns that Saver parties may not sit together. If your group needs adjoining seats, evaluate the fare or advance-selection option before purchase. Revisit the reservation after an aircraft substitution and ask the airline about any unresolved seating requirement.
