Delta Air Lines economy seats: what to know

How to compare Delta Air Lines Economy locations, cabin versions and the seat-selection conditions attached to your trip.

Updated October 31, 2026

Distinguish fare restrictions from the cabin

Delta’s seat-assignment help describes paid advance assignments on eligible domestic Basic Economy itineraries and free assignment later at check-in or the gate. Check the current offer conditions; a cabin diagram does not establish whether a particular fare includes selection.

Compare Delta’s configuration details

Use the exact Delta aircraft page and configuration to compare Economy positions with separately described Comfort products. A premium location, additional legroom and a reclining seat are different attributes. Read the row-specific annotations and any sourced measurement rather than inferring them from the product color.

Recheck after an aircraft change

Delta notes that seat features vary with aircraft and flight. Keep a second position in mind, and inspect the final seat screen if the aircraft changes. For a group, confirm the actual assigned seats; the airline’s Basic Economy guidance does not guarantee adjoining positions.
